Using the CGMA framework as a basis and working closely with SME’s in the business, we identified the core and specialist area capabilities needed for the finance function to achieve its strategy. We tailored the descriptions to the organisational context, identifying how the capabilities differ across various proficiency levels. In addition we mapped the proficiency levels to the Finance specialist areas, in order to provide clarity on potential career paths and learning journeys. As part of this process we also made a series of recommendations about how the framework should be launched, and how it should be embedded into core processes including Recruitment, Performance Management, Learning and Development, Career Planning, Talent and Succession and Workforce Planning.
